SCA and SABIC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will see the latter share its knowledge to batter practises.
The MoU also targets the safety of construction projects across the country, with the industry forming the kingdom’s second largest non-oil economic sector.
Ultimately, SABIC and SCA’s partnership targets Saudi Arabia’s economy-focused Vision 2030 agenda.
On behalf of SABIC, Eng Omar Al-Amoudi, the firm’s Executive Vice President for Engineering and Project Management, signed the agreement along with SCA’s Secretary General, Eng Thabet bin Mubarak Al Swaid.
Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, Vice President at SABIC, noted the MoU would “support and guide” the kingdom’s construction sector.
The firm’s “extensive experience in construction, project management, contracting, sustainability, and the qualification and selection of contractors” would be provided in the agreement.
More than 5,000 projects are in Saudi Arabia’s construction pipeline, which contribute to 35% of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) total active project volume.
Saudi Arabia Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) has been appointed to improve construction standards in Saudi Arabia by the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA).
